PROGRAMS & TEAMS

Find The Right Level For Your Player.

SFC New England's club soccer programs in Winchester, MA

One Club. Three Stages. U8 To U18.

SFC fields competitive boys' and girls' teams from U8 through U18, just north of Boston. Every level runs on the same four-pillar approach and, as much as possible, the same coaches, season to season. What changes as your player grows is the competition, the format, and the commitment. Here's how each level actually works, so you can see where your player fits.

ONE PROGRAM, FOUR STAGES

How The Program Is Built

SFC is one program in four stages. Players move up as they’re ready. It’s a continuous path, not a set of disconnected teams.

For the full development journey, what changes at each stage and where it leads, see the Player Pathway. This page covers the practical side: seasons, leagues, and what each level asks of your player.

U8 (Development Academy)

The Development Academy is where it starts. U8 players train with SFC coaches to build the basics: comfort on the ball, how to move, and a love of the game, without the demands of a league schedule. There’s no league schedule, though DA teams play friendly matches once or twice a year. It’s focused training designed to get younger players ready for team play at U9.

If your player is U8 and you’re looking for more touches and structured sessions, this is the on-ramp.

U9–U12

This is a player’s first competitive team. The focus stays on technical development, ball mastery, and starting to read the game while players get their first taste of league play in a development-first environment.

U13–U18

By U13, the game is fully opened up: 11v11 on the full field, on a competitive league schedule that steps up as players move through their teens. The competition sharpens here. SFC's top teams move into the NAL, with others continuing in NECSL, boys and girls alike. Development still drives everything, but team placement and playing time increasingly reflect a player's development, attitude, and performance. And as the high school years come into view, our coaches keep an honest, ongoing conversation with each player about where they stand and how to keep growing.

WHERE SFC PLAYS

NAL and NECSL

SFC’s boys’ and girls’ teams compete in two leagues, by age and level:

National Academy League (NAL) is where SFC’s Elite teams compete from U13 through U18, a higher tier of play.

New England Club Soccer League (NECSL) runs SFC’s U9–U12 teams and the White & Silver teams from U13+, with consistent, well-matched regional competition.

Both leagues field boys and girls. Together they give every SFC player a real, competitive schedule against clubs at their level.

YEAR-ROUND COMMITMENT

A Real Year-Round Program

SFC trains through all three seasons. The part that sets the program apart is winter: instead of going dormant, teams keep training and competing indoors, including on a full indoor 11v11 field, straight through the New England winter. Older teams add a strength and conditioning block built around how players move and how to keep them healthy.
